What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is the practice of assessing patients remotely using video-conference, digital photography, instant messaging, email, or other technology, that enables patients and health practitioners to meet and discuss health concerns, no matter where they are located.

What sorts of treatments can Telehealth help me with?

Telehealth consultations can be helpful to review and follow-up on the progress of your treatment plan with your podiatrist, particularly for the management of a chronic condition.

Your podiatrist is trained to assess whether a Telehealth consultation is appropriate for you, or whether they need to see you in person or refer you to a nearby service. If you are unsure whether your appointment should be

Who can book a Telehealth appointment?

Existing clients may book a Telehealth consultation with any of our available podiatrists. You can select a Telehealth appointment when booking online, or phone us to book your Telehealth appointment.

Is my Telehealth consultation private and confidential?

Yes. Just like seeing your health care provider in person, telephone or video consultations are subject to the same privacy regulations.

If you are in WA, SA, ACT, NSW, and Tasmania, it is not lawful to secretly record a private conversation to which you are a party. If there is any reason why your consultation should be recorded, you should have the permission of Dr McGowan before starting the recording.

Which is better for me, a phone consultation or video consultation?

Your podiatrist may decide that a conversation over the telephone is sufficient to meet your health care needs. Typically, a video consultation is required.

It is important that you have sufficient internet speed to attend a video consultation. For video conferencing you will need a minimum upload speed of 1-4 Mbps, but ideally, you should have at least 5 Mbps upload and 15 Mbps download speeds.

If you are unable to access the internet on the day, please phone our reception to make alternative arrangements.
